The Members of the New PHISO Steering Committee
The PHISO Steering Committee will assist the Board of Trustees in managing the affairs of the organization.
1. Lorna Q. Israel is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Studies, Miriam College where she has been teaching for the past 15 years. She handles courses on Research Methods, Social and Political Though, Gender and Development Studies. She also serves as the coordinator of the Department’s Graduate Program in International Studies. She has BA in International Studies (Maryknoll/Miriam College), an MA in Philippines Studies from the Asian Center, University of the Philippines where she is taking up a PhD on Philippine Studies (Foreign Relations). Her research interests include humor studies, gender and development, language, violence, socio-cultural studies, Philippine Studies. She is a member and past president of Kasibulan Women’s Art Group.
2. Naidyl Isis Bautista is an Assistant Professor of Italian at the Department of European Languages, College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines, Diliman. She is also an affiliate faculty of the Center for International Studies, also at UP Diliman. She obtained a BA European Languages (cum laude) degree from UP Diliman in 2011 and a Masters in Teaching Italian to Foreigners (Didattica dell’italiano a stranieri) from the Università per Stranieri di Siena in 2016. Her research interests are focused on materials development, language didactics, linguistics, and cultural studies. In 2017 her paper entitled La contestualizzazione dell’apprendimento della lingua Italiana nelle Filippine: Didattizzazione di una puntata di “Radici – l’altra faccia dell’immigrazione” sulle Filippine was published at the Università degli Studi di Milano’s open access journal Italiano LinguaDue, which focuses on the fields of teaching Italian as a second or foreign language and linguistic education in plurilingual and multicultural contexts.

4. Domar C. Alviar is a humanities and social sciences professor at National University. Serving various posts from university publications editorship in the Philippines in 2001-2007 to the Middle East and North Africa customs relations as well as international supply management for eight years before returning to the country, this economist by training decided to pursue his development advocacy and earned an MA in development communication. He managed his time abroad with a liberal concentration on an overseas Filipino workers empowerment tool and authored a related paper considered exemplar of good student work, the abstract of which was published online by the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies, UP Open University. He edits development reports and publishes them in Mega Scene (ISSN: 2508-0458). An international journal will soon run his probe of a localized political economy under the auspices of the Research and Innovation Office of NU Manila. The prevailing international economic regime and the Philippines’ greater openness that goes with it have prompted him to attune his social sciences and communication endeavors to something more deeply international even as he is pursuing a doctorate degree in communication at UPOU.
5. Jeconiah Louis Dreisbach is currently finishing his MA Philippine Studies degree at De La Salle University–Manila. He earned graduate-level credits in international relations from the Center for Global Politics at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany in 2017. From 2014 to 2016, Jecon served as the national secretariat for international solidarity of the National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) National Office. He is a member of the Philippine International Studies Organization and the Association for Critical Heritage Studies. His research interests are in contact cultures and languages (particularly Davao Filipino), critical/cultural studies, intercultural/group communication, and Philippine mass movements. He has also presented papers on Japanese soft power in popular culture and the politics of language and performance studies. His recent journal articles can be read in the Recoletos Multidisciplinary Research Journal (2017) and the Geografia: Malaysian Journal of Society and Space (forthcoming 2018).
6. Filbert Anthony B. Mejorada is currently on his final years leading to the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun). He is the current Deputy Student Regent of the University Student Council (PLMun – USC) A.Y. 2017-2018, as well as an ex-officio member of the Political Science Student Action Group and Debate Club. He attended various national and international conferences pertaining to the development and prospects of Political Science and International Relations in the Philippines. His expertise and research interest includes International Relations of Local Governments and Comparative Southeast Asian politics. Recently, together with his partners, presented a paper at the 2nd Philippine International Studies Organization (PHISO) International Conference, held at the Ateneo de Davao University.
7. Kobe Bryan L. Loterinia is currently a 3rd year undergraduate student in the Department of Political Science majoring International Relations at Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa, Manila. Currently the founding chairman of Ang PuliNaw: Pulitikang Pananaw, a newly established student academic organization that focused on Indigenization of Political Science. Recently had two papers accepted and presented in both international conferences. One in “The Remains of a Dictatorship: An International Conference on the Philippines under Marcos” organized by Philippine Studies: Historical and Ethnographic Viewpoints of Ateneo de Manila University and the other one is on the “2nd PHISO International Conference” organized by Philippine International Studies Organization. Research interests include Marcos Foreign Policy, Democratization, State-building, and Environmental Politics.
