PHISO will participate in the ISA Asia Pacific Conference on July 4-6, 2019 at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. We are calling for paper proposals for our panel, Decolonial Studies and International Relations: Perspectives from Southeast Asia.
This panel welcomes research papers and essays that focus on the de-centering of International Relations theories and practices in Southeast Asia. In line with the epistemic decolonial turn, studies with and from a subaltern perspective (Grosfoguel 2007, p 211) about international affairs are highly encouraged. The panel will begin with a presentation on the results of the TRIPS survey in the Philippines and its implications for local theorization in IR. Possible topics for this panel include but are not limited to – mapping decolonial scholarship in IR, genealogies or anthologies of local scholarship of and about IR, novel practices or theories emanating from IR in Southeast Asia, and mid-range theorizing and its value for decolonizing established paradigms.
Email us (contact@phiso.org) your complete name, a title of your proposal, its abstract, and three corresponding tags/keywords. Please note that abstract is limited to 200 words only, and title is limited to 50 words. Deadline of submission is on January 31, 2019.
