Logistics of the 2nd PHISO International Conference

There are three options on how to get to Davao City if you are arriving internationally. The first one is through the Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA (IATA: MNL, ICAO: RPLL), also known as Manila Airport, as your connecting airport to the Davao Airport. It has four terminals that serves the following airlines.

NAIA Terminal 1: The following airlines operated at this terminal consist of Air China, Air Niugini, Asiana Airlines, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad, Eva Air, Gulf Air, Japan Airlines, Jeju Air, Jet Star Asia, Korean Airlines, Kuwait Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Oman Air, Qantas Airlines, Qatar Airways, Royal Brunei, Saudia Airlines, Thai Airways, Tiger Airways, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines.

NAIA Terminal 2: It exclusively serves all Philippine Airlines flights, for example, PAL Express and Philippine Airlines.

NAIA Terminal 3: The following airlines operated at this terminal consist of Delta Air Lines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Emirates Airlines, and AirAsia Philippines.

NAIA Terminal 4: It hosts flights from local carriers such as Air Asia Zest, Tigerair Philippines and Skyjet Airlines.

The second option is through the Mactan (Cebu) International Airport, which will serve as your connecting airport to the Davao Airport. The following airlines operated at this airport consist of Cathay Pacific, Malaysian Airlines, Philippines Airlines, Mandarine Airlines, Silkair, Qatar Airways, Korean Air, Cebu Pacific Air, and Asiana Airlines.

The third option is a direct flight from Singapore via SilkAir or Cebu Pacific Air and from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia via AirAsia going to the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City (located in Mindanao or Southern Philippines). From the airport to hotels around the Ateneo de Davao University, please take a metered taxi cab. It would cost you around 250 PHP (US $5). You will find the metered taxis queued on your right as you ascend the stairs outside the airport. Do not entertain cab or van drivers who would approach and offer you services on contract as this is much more expensive. Travel time from the airport is 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

The Conference Venue: Ateneo de Davao University

Ateneo de Davao University, Jacinto Campus, is one of Davao City’s prominent landmarks. The official address is at E. Jacinto Street, but you can also enter the gates along C.M. Recto Street and Roxas Avenue.

Davao now 4th safest city in the world. After ranking ninth safest in the world in the user-contributed survey site Numbeo.com, Davao City is now at fourth place. Last month’s survey showed that Davao City was ranked ninth after posting a safety index of 80.69 or a crime index of 19.31.
